Calling all Red Sox/Fenway experts

Hello, Bostonians! Time to start finalizing our June plans and I am desperate for some help. First, don鈥檛 take anything personal, but I am not a baseball fan, or any other sport for that matter. I would rather sit in the library and read. So now that I have that disclaimer out of the way, my husband loves baseball. We had not planned on seeing a game and as friends ask if we are, he wistfully says no. So, I am going to surprise him and take him as an early birthday present. My dilemma is, I haven鈥檛 the foggiest what is a decent seat. I don鈥檛 know infield from outfield from goal post! I am looking on stubhub and can get $50-60 seats in any of the bleacher sections, from row 12 up. Does the angle make any difference, or is one any better than the other. You guys have helped in planning the rest of our exciting trip, so I am bowing to your expertise on this! Thanks in advance

Your husband will either love or hate seats in the Fenway bleachers, it%26#39;s a unique experience to be sure.

It sounds as if you are on a budget, given that you have gravitated to seats that are selling for $50-60 on stubhub. (Those are ';cheap'; prices by Fenway standards)

The best seats can be found between first base and third base (from 3 o%26#39;clock to 9 o%26#39;clock) as you look at a Fenway seating chart.

Thank you signothetimes53, yes we are on a budget. Have lots planned for Boston, and this is a last minute whim! We have been to a Twins game and he tries to make most Ranger games, so I think just being there will be a thrill.

Angles don%26#39;t come into play in the bleachers as much as they do in the Grandstand seats, where in some sections you are literally facing the outfield and need to turn your head all game to see the batters.

Bleacher seats at Fenway are actually pretty good seats, with lower rows more favorable to the really higher ones. The bleachers also get a little more ';livelier'; than other sections of the park...that can actually be entertaining for the non-sports fan...

If your on a budget, just grab a pair of bleacher seats. Just being at the game is fun. It%26#39;s a pretty long way from home plate where they bat, but it%26#39;s also a good time out there in bleacherland. It does get lively, but that%26#39;s because they are true fans sitting out there. Not the ones you see with great seats talking on their cell phones the entire game. Good luck!

When it comes to bleacher seats, the lower you are (or closer to the field)the better. One obvious reason is that you%26#39;re view will be better. Another reason is that, in my experience, it seems the farther back you go in the bleachers the more unruly the crowd.

The nice thing about sitting in the beachers is, it is better to see the home run ball coming to rather than away from you.

Said home run balls are only ';nice'; if they are hit by members of the home team.

:-)

Not so fun if they are hit by the likes of a Jeter or a Giambi.

Yes, Jeter home runs ruin my day.

Thanks ever so much for your input! I do enjoy sporting events more in person, so I am sure we will have a wonderful time. I just bit the bullet and got 2 tickets, bleacher 38, row 20 for $55. No since in worrying over a couple of extra bucks and he will be so surprised! Counting the days until we visit your wonderful city and I am guessing everyone will be as helpful as ya鈥檒l have been.

If it%26#39;s a day game make sure you have a hat and sunblock. You are sitting in direct sun. Enjoy.
