RIding the T

Hi this is a silly question but I thought I would ask anyways. I have never been on a subway before so I am trying to get as much info as possible. How do you transfer from line to line?

I will be riding the Blue Line at the airport stop and will want to transfer to green line at the Government center stop?

Not a silly question, when you arrive at Logan you will catch a shuttle bus its free to the Airport subway station, you can buy a Charlie ticket at the station there will be ';T'; subway personel to help you,the subway is known as the ';T';.you will take the Blue Line to Government Center which is 4 stops from the Airport Station and then you go upstairs to catch the Green Line which consist of 4 branches or lines,B for Boston college,C for Cleveland Circle,D for Riverside and E for Heath Street you can also go to the subway system website at www.mbta.com have a great time in Boston.

Good details from OldiesGuy. Just make sure when you transfer from one line to another on the MBTA that you do not exit the station by mistake otherwise you%26#39;ll have to pay again. Subway is marked pretty well. However, don%26#39;t be afraid to ask. People will point you in the right direction.

Thank you both for the advice.

Hi holmeslyne,

It sure can be confusing to use the subway as a first time visitor. There will be people there to help you get on the right trains. The only thing you need to know is where your going. Some of the workers don%26#39;t know a certain hotel%26#39;s specific stop, but they know the transit stops very well. For example, if you asked how to get to the Colonnade Hotel, he/she might not know. But tell them I need to get to the Prudential stop which is the stop for the Colonnade, they will be able to direct you. Find some time to check out this visitors map if you haven%26#39;t done so. It gives a good overview of the city with great tools for pinpointing your hotel, overlaying the T map onto the city map, zooming in/out, etc.
