Has anyone ever taken the Cape Cod Rail Trail? Is it nice in May. We are thinking of renting the bikes for one day and visiting that area. I know this question has been ask before, but I have not found any recent answers when I searched.
what are my options of transportation that you recommend to get there if we go from Boston. Sorry to repeat the same questions if I am. I do not want to get a car if possible.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
I%26#39;m sure some real bikers will reply soon. I%26#39;ve been on just a segment of it and thought it was very nice. It must also be the route for the charity bike ride event, the AIDS ride, which goes from somewhere (Boston?) to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod. So if you look that up you might find lots of info about the route and the bike trail.
The Cape is very nice in May.
are you thinking of biking from Boston to Cape Cod, or do you mean you want options like taking the bus to Cape Cod? Certainly there are buses going there every day.
You should also post this question on the Cape Cod forum.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
I am NOT biking to Cape from Boston. Just wanted to get transportation there so we could ride the paved section of this trail. It sounds beautiful. But again just wondering about getting there and back. We are staying in Boston. Any information will be great. Thanks

The Cape Cod Rail Trail is absolutely wonderful! It%26#39;s a great way to see the Cape in a very low impact way. There are numerous other side bike rides that leave the trail and go off into the neighborhoods. The first link below has a phone number to enquire about bike rentals.

There is limited public transportation on the Cape that you could possibly utilize. From Boston you can catch the Plymouth and Brockton Lines bus to Hyannis, and then rely on the local buses. The link below has lots of info for you to peruse.

The Rail Trail is very nice. They completed the last 11 miles of it last June. It%26#39;s all smooth sailing now.
Another option is to take the fast ferry from Boston to Provincetown. Rent your bikes in Provincetown and then ride the 4 or so miles to the beginning of the trail in Wellfleet.
Thanks for both the suggestions and information, I will start looking more right away. Is the fast ferry running in May?
Daily fast ferry service begins May 16th. $75 per adult roundtrip. Travel time is 90 minutes each way.

Thanks Will:
I looked at that. That may be the way to go. Still looking at the rest of the information. We would only be able to do it on Friday or Saturday, is there such a thing as a crowd on the weekends in that area. Or is it pretty much the same that time of year.
What do you mean by crowd? In Provincetown? On the bike path? Neither will be too crowded to enjoy in May. Unless you%26#39;ll be going on Memorial Day weekend. It may be on the real busy side that weekend, but certainly still very enjoyable.
Crowd, I don%26#39;t know? LOL. I just thought it would be nice to get away for the day to a quiet place. Out of the City . We really don%26#39;t have enough time ever on any vacation, so we have to relax at least a little. I just don%26#39;t know if a day is enough to dedicate to this.
Thanks

Hi,
We took the bikes to the Cape about three ago, excellent weekend. I hadn’t been on the cape for ages. We parked the car at the rotary in Orleans (next to the court house), biked up to Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. I think it was about 6 miles each way. We stayed at Oceans Edge in Brewster, good spot ($83.00). Dinner at the Land Ho in Orleans.
Oceans Edge has parking and entry for the bike path on the property. Next day we went south thru Harwich, lunch and back. It was great to see the sites of the upper cape area; I’ve got a renewed appreciated.
