Best way to get to Fenway from Chatham

I%26#39;ll be in Chatham visiting and scored tickets to the sox game on 6/7 vs seattle. What is the best way for me to get to and from the game? I%26#39;ve been told to avoid driving at all costs! Thanks!

Your biggest issue is going to be the almost certainly super-heavy traffic trying to get to the Cape itself, since that%26#39;s a weekend game.

The second biggest issue is your unfamiliarity with driving in Boston itself, which may be among the more difficult cities you%26#39;ll ever encounter for ';tourist driving'; given its maze of one-way streets and poorly marked road signage.

Part of me thinks that your best bet would be to bite the bullet on driving off the Cape and parking in Braintree, and taking the Red line subway from Braintree to Park Street, then hopping on a B, C, or D Green line train to Kenmore.

Perhaps someone else will have a better suggestion, this is the first thing that occurs to me.

Will you have access to a car? The game is on a Saturday which isn%26#39;t bad at all to drive into the city. You could also park at a T station garage in Braintree or Quincy and take the T in and out of the city. If your without a car, I know that Plymouth %26amp; Brockton Bus runs weekend service into the city from as close to Chatham as Orleans or Harwich, but I%26#39;m not sure if they have late night service back to Cape Cod. The easiest way is to drive right into the city and park aways from Fenway to save money, then walk to the Park.

Will, how thick and slow will the Cape-bound traffic be for James after the ballgame? It%26#39;s not yet full vacation time, so maybe it won%26#39;t be bad, and it will be Saturday nite late....but I%26#39;m simply not sure what the situation will be when James heads back to Chatham.

Congrats on getting the tickets!!! Since it is a weekend game with a late afternoon start I would recommend two choices -- drive all the way in to the city and park in one of the garages (weekend rates are more affordable! and I don%26#39;t think the traffic should be too horrendous at that hour) or if you are uncomfortable driving all the way in, go 3 north and take exit 19 to the Quincy Center Station (MBTA -- red line to Park, switch to green line to Kenmore)

Sign,

I don%26#39;t see any problems with traffic at all. It%26#39;s only June 7th., still early for the Cape. Not a holiday weekend either. By the time James gets back to the Cape area, it will be midnight-ish. Smooth sailing.

Driving into the city from the south isn%26#39;t too bad. There%26#39;s a couple of easy ways to the park without getting tied up in one ways.

Ah, I see, a 4pm start. I still see no problems getting to Boston or back to the Cape. I would drive right in myself for the convienence. Nice tickets by the way.

excellent responses...thanks everybody. How about parking at south station and getting a train. was reading about parking at the prudential building garage. But is that hard to get to from the south side? BIG relief to hear I got good seats. HAven%26#39;t been to Fenway since my dad took me in 1977. It%26#39;s going to be great!

Getting to the Pru is easy. Take exit 18 off 93N. Follow about an 1/8th. mile until you see the left turn for Mass Ave Connector. Take the left and then take a right onto Mass Ave and follow all the way to Boylston. Right on Boylston and just past the Pru Tower is the parking garage on right.

Leaving the game, take a right out of the garage. Follow to Arlington St. Right onto Arlington which slightly bears left and turns into Herald St. Jump on 93S on ramp and on your way.
