Airlines to start adding big fuel charges!%26lt;%26lt;SIGH%26gt;%26gt; Unfortunately my trip to Boston in June could very well be my last for awhile. Or @ least until our economy turns around. %26lt;%26lt;SIGH%26gt;%26gt;
Airlines to start adding big fuel charges!Unfortunately, it%26#39;s understandable. The airlines are in the business to make money, not lose it. They have to do something to combat the high fuel costs. I do find it somewhat funny that they don%26#39;t change the fare price, but surcharge you to death. The final price I pay for my ticket is what I consider the total fare, fare, surcharges and fees all included. We%26#39;re not stupid. We know the fare price isn%26#39;t the final price. The airlines should stop categorizing the fare, surcharge and fees separately. It%26#39;s just silly and gimmicky. Give me the final price so I don%26#39;t waste a bunch of time reading the fine print to add it all up. :)
I think that once they hit, we%26#39;re going to be stuck with them. One of the frequent flyer gurus recently wrote that they%26#39;re going to become a fixture (like in much of the travel industry), market-driven rather than cost-driven, floating on their own demand curve, without regard to fuel prices. It%26#39;s too tempting for marketers to lowball the ';official'; fare. Cruise companies have done it for years, and when was the last time anyone saw an airfare advertised ';all-in';? It%26#39;s already rife in international air travel. This and ';A La Carte Pricing'; (the hottest term in travel today), is what the future will look like.
