I am looking for a hotel for 2 nights (mid week in July) for around $200/night. I am taking my wife and 2 kids. My wife is partially disabled so I am shying away from B%26amp;B%26#39;s for logistical reasons. I was interested in going upscale a little bit to the Hawthorne because of the views but they have a 5 night min. Also logistically I can run with the kids to the beach while my wife still has a beatiful view back from the Hotel. I was interested in Chatham because the talk of all the nice shops and quiant town. However, I am not really seeing a nice hotel in my price class. All the REALLY nice places are out of my price range. Currently I found Marriott Courtyard at Hyannis for around $200 but would prefer the Chatham atmosphere. Once again the Courtyard might work out better for my family in my circumstances, but I am thinking that I might miss out on the Cape Cod charm. Am I fretting too much or should I just stay at the Courtyard and drive to Chatham, no big deal. I would appreciate any opinions.
Thanks!

Try Pleasant Bay Village Resort Motel in Chatham, they have a beautiful property and a large selection of rooms from Standard to 2 bedroom cottages with fully equipped kitchens.

You%26#39;re from St. Louis so you want to be on the beach don%26#39;t you? You only have two nights. Since you have a budget you can get a beach front hotel in Dennisport within your price range. While there are others, I think the two I would suggest you try first are: Three Seasons Resort and Colony Beach. For your short trip there%26#39;s a lot to enjoy right in Dennisport, you barely have to drive your car. If this appeals to you and you need more info just ask.
Check out either the Colony Beach or Three Seasons
Both are next to each other on the ocean. Both do have stairways down to the beach . Both have rooms on the ground floor . Both do have stairways to the second floor. I have stayed at the Colony beach and will be going back in the summer. The Colony beach has an area where you could sit and watch the beach without going down to the beach.They also have a couple of efficiencies that are ocean front without climbing. The 3 Seasons has motel rooms that are ocean front and the patio looks directly onto the beach and on the ground floor. I think they maybe in that price range or just a bit higher. If you have some open dates in July you maybe able to get something.
Thanks for the Dennisport tips! Both of those places look like they might be a fit. However, the 3 seasons is already booked for my dates. I have an e-mail out to the Colony to check on availability. Their voice mail says they are still closed for the season for a couple of days. The reviews on this site look good. It sounds like the Colony may be a good fit for my wife. She can still take in a little of the beach without worrying how she is going to physically get down to the beach. It sounds as if the second floor has stairs only (no elevator)? Looks like I should shoot for a first floor room. It also sounds like the ocean front efficiencies may be ideal. Like I said, I am willing to pay a little extra if it really fits the families needs.
Once again, thanks for your input. Sometimes it can be a little bit of a challange planning a trip with an individual that is partially handicapped. All this kind of advice really helps me out!
Well if you are looking at the Colony ask for a bottom efficiency - explain what your situation - it is difficult to get these rooms but you never know if there is a gap in their year to year reservations.
If not ask for the rooms that on on the side that does does not have a second floor above them and ask for the one closest to the ocean - Not sure of the numbers- you can google the web site colonybeachmotel.com to get a better idea (if you haven%26#39;t already.)
There is another place - never have been there but it does look nice - beach house at bass river
Bassriverbeachhouse.com - does not have a pool but seems to right on the water. Also , has an early booking discount - no pool though
Another good suggestion. I sent over a request to find out availability and rates. The quote that I love from one of the reviews is ';Its hard to find, but even harder to forget';
Thanks for the tip!
I would TOTALLY not stay at the Marriot and drive to Chatham. The traffic will be crazy. You are correct about losing the charm factor. Hyannis IMHO is tacky and too hectic. It would be far easier to stay in Dennis somewhere (there are many accessible hotels I am sure) and save 20 min.
Seasailorswim,
Thanks for the tip about Bassriverbeachhouse.com . I have booked two nights there. It is a little more than I wanted to spend, but I think it will be an excellent fit for us. It looks really nice! Yes, it does not have a pool, but hey, we have the beach! I will be sure to post a full review of the hotel when I get back (late July). Thanks to all that posted on this thread! I think we will have a much more enjoyable vacation as a result of your imput!
Great - Be sure to post a review . Also - if you have any more questions about what to do or where to eat or take the kids be sure to post.
Thanks, I may take you up on that once I get in to a little detailed planning. But I really only have 1.5 - 2 days to play with. This is the midpoint of a 7 day trip. I figured that we would do seal watching out of Chatham and whale watching out of P-Town and basically fill in the rest with beach time and looking at the small towns (probably Dennisport and Chatham). I don%26#39;t think I will have time for much else. One of the bigger questions that I have posted in another thread is about the Whale watching tickets. Do I need to drive up there and purchase them the day before? Or can I walk up the day of? (Mid july time frfame).
