What to do, May 24-26 in Boston

Hi,

My wife and I are going to Hyannis and then Boston the weekend starting the 22 of May. I will be turning 30 on Monday the 26. We will be arriving in Boston on Saturday afternoon. I have a bunch of questions if anyone would like to answer one or more it would be greatly appreciated.

1. We need to go to Cheers, just for tourist and nostalgia reasons, but I read somewhere, I can%26#39;t recall, to go to a specific one, because there are a few. Which one is the right one to go to?

2. We like antiques and we were planning on stopping at antique stores on the drive between Hyannis and Boston. Any particular spots?

3. We plan on partying once we are in Boston. We are staying at the Hyatt Regency, which I read doesn%26#39;t have the best location for nightlife. We like walking and will certainly take advantage of the T. ANy recommendations for nearby or hiking places to hang out? Dancing, drinks and the likes.

4. How about nightlife in Hyannis. Any cool places to hang out?

5. We would like to go to a nice/classy restaurant in Boston that won%26#39;t break the bank. Location does not matter too much. We will get there. Any suggestions?

If you haven%26#39;t noticed, weekend getaway from the kids is for romantic and party purposes. Any other travel tips would be great.

Thanks for any assistance that can be offered.

Mike

What would break the bank for you?

I guess I am looking at a $100-$150 dinner for two. Thanks.

Grotto in Beacon Hill is my favorite for that price range. It%26#39;s a little cramped, but the majority of the tables always seem to be for two, so it%26#39;s fairly quiet. Plus, the food has never once let me down.

Thanks. Menu looks good and that is pretty much the price rang. II mapped it and it looks to be about .5 miles from our hotel.

One caveat: the pasta dishes, though delicious, are extremely rich. Either get a half-portion or split one, because if you eat an entire plate of that gnocci, I can garuntee there will be no romance later.

There are two Cheers. The original, where all the exterior shots for the TV series were filmed, is actually the Bull and Finch Pub. It is located on Beacon Street, across the street from the Public Garden near Arlington Street.

The Cheers ';Replica';, which looks like the inside of Cheers on the TV show, is recreated in Quincy Market.

Both have the same pubbie food and souveniers.

Cheers is a disappointment, but if you must, go to the original Bull and Finch Pub on Beacon Street. At least you%26#39;ll recall the exterior and sign from the show. Just don%26#39;t expect much.

Stop in Sandwich on Cape Cod for antiques. Sandwich Center has lovely shops. For nightlife in Hyannis try:

Boston nightlife is really subjective. You%26#39;ll find fun pubs in Faneuil Hall and you can bar-hop around there.

I recommend hitting the North End section for dinner. Walk up and down the streets lined with great restaurants and bars. Hard to go wrong, but some great options are:

Near your hotel is Silvertone on Bromfield Street for cheap eats and great drinks. Ivy Restaurant is on Temple right near by as well. Have fun!

Thank you very much. I will be sure to take advantage of all your ideas.

Hi,

1. Go to the Cheers on Beacon Street. At least you%26#39;ll have picures of the outside that are authentic. You will probably end up at Fanueil Hall to do some partying there, and the other Cheers is there. That one has the exact replica of the Cheers bar.

2. Yes, get over to Sandwich for some antiques. When leaving Hyannis, pick up route 132 north. Take that to route 6A, not Route 6. Head west down 6A and you will run into Sandwich. After crossing the bridge and leaving the Cape, you will be heading 3 north towards Boston. Hop off in Plymouth for more antique shopping.

3. Plenty of nighlife can be found on Landsdowne Street, right at Fenway Park. Bars, danceclubs, dueling piano places. There%26#39;s also good nighlife going on at and around Fanueil Hall. Should be hopping Memorial Day weekend. There%26#39;s also some good nightlife around the Boston Garden. The Greatest Bar amongst others are there. There%26#39;s also good nightspots, irish bars and whatnot scattered all over the city. You won%26#39;t go thirsty. :)

4. There%26#39;s good nightlife to be found in Hyannis. Main Street has some good spots. Try posting in the Hyannis forum for more in depth help.

5. Atlantic Fish Company

Have yourselves a good time on the Cape and Boston.

Thanks. Rservations necessary for any of these places to eat in Boston on Saturday night?
