The past two years we have stayed at Jurys Boston Hotel and liked it very much, especially the service. However, it seems like their prices have jumped since last year, and their hotel website prices are the same as those on Expedia. To my surprise, the Copley Plaza has some summer promotional rates that are lower than Jurys. Could anyone give me some feedback comparing the two hotels? Does the service at the Copley Plaza match its good reputation? Thanks in advance!
Jurys vs. Copley Plaza
We haven%26#39;t stayed at the Copley Plaza, we just went to the piano bar for champane and some listening this past weekend. Jury%26#39;s is lovely, but fot the price, the rooms are small and the doormen were pretty busy talking amongst themselves. Our friends got their own taxi. The doormen were in a big hurry to have us move our car and wanted to charge $39 for valet parking when there were empty spots on the street all around the hotel. On hotwire a few weeks ago, I booked us into the Marriott Courtyard at Copley SQUARE, on Exeter St. I thought it was the Marriott Courtyard at Copley PLACE on Huntington when I made the reservation. They are across the street from each other. The SQUARE is undergoing a transformation, and when we crossed the street I thought;';What have I done by bokking us here ?'; The staff was wonderful, the room was twice the size of Jury%26#39;s room, bathroom was very nice, valet parking was basixcally $42 for two days and we could come and go as we pleased... a big help to us. They let us check in 6 hours early, we got a free back massage, and wonderful fresh fruit. There were many 4-5 star amenities. Lobby is not at all like Copley Plaza%26#39;s. But our wonderful time there was $139/night.
I%26#39;m booking us again for a July and a Sept trip.
Jurys vs. Copley Plaza
Hi again,
we paid 159 dollars/ night, not 139.
sorry.
What is the Copley Plaza hotel?
There is The Fairmont Copley Plaza.... Marriott Copley Place.... Westin Copley Place.... Courtyard By Marriott....and others...
The Copley Plaza is the old one at Huntington and Exeter, facing Huntington, that is just there. Hasn%26#39;t gotten much respect, but it%26#39;s been the closest-in with the lowest rates. Now, being remodeled and is virtually gutted. It shares a wall with what has recently become the Courtyard by Marriott on Exeter.
Whoops. The one I just described is the Copley SQUARE hotel. The Copley Plaza Hotel is the tres elegant grand dame, facing Copley Square, where Sumner Redstone had his bette noir.
Voyagereuse, the Copley Plaza is the true name of the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Fairmont is a relatively new owner. Also, there are a lot of hotels with Copley in the name, but only one that says ';Copley Plaza';.
I would choose the Copley Plaza over Jury%26#39;s, for the service and common areas alone.
Thanks for the insight about the Copley Plaza%26#39;s service (and I do mean the Fairmont Copley Plaza -- I just remember it as the Copley Plaza from when I lived in Boston decades ago). I recall the public spaces as being wonderful, but was wondering about the level of service. I think we%26#39;ll give it a try, especially since the special rates are so tempting. Will report back after August....
