Wyndham Chelsea or Best Western Roundhouse

we are trying to find relatively cheap accommodation in Boston for 4 nights - travelling from Australia going to fenway and just a few other tourist type activities.

2 adults %26amp; 1 16yo... dont spend too much time at the hotel so don%26#39;t want to spend a lot of money.

any help on which of these would be ok and fairly accessible to subway /train

Wyndham Chelsea or Best Western Roundhouse

I think I would go for third option. What price range are you seeking?

Wyndham Chelsea or Best Western Roundhouse

I think I would go for another option as well.

How about the Holiday Inn Boston-Somerville?

that is our problem i guess... Holiday inn Brookline is around the $200 per night and we were hoping to pay less given that we are travelling for a month and our new york and las vegas accommodation is quite expensive.

wyndham Chelsea is on Expedia for $95 per night but obviously there is a reason for that!

Midtown Hotel is on the subway line and is very close to Fenway.

Dee,

Unfortunately, Boston is an expensive city as well. Try to get a deal using priceline or hotwire. Many other visitors have had very good success using those sites.

have you tried bidding on priceline?

The Wyndham Chelsea is accessible to/from the airport but, honestly, the neighborhood is a little rough around the edges. Chelsea is a gritty working class city with little in terms of night life to lend itself.(At least what I would recommend to folks from out of town.) I lived in Chelsea for a time; it was an experience.

But, I would recommend looking at Winthrop. It%26#39;s further east than Chelsea, and actually easier in and out of Logan. Situated on a thin peninsula, it has the ocean on one side and Boston Harbor on the other.

The Inn at Crystal Cove sits on a nice spot just a block from the beach and with water views of the Boston skyline. A portion of the main house was once the private residence of Governor Winthrop, one of the original Mayflower families. There are cute restaurants within walking distance and bus service to the subway. It runs as late as the T so getting back to Winthrop after the game isn%26#39;t an issue. You can even call the local taxi company and they run on a flat rate system. During the month of July every weekend has some sort of fun family activity from a July 4th bonfire on the beach to Family Sandcastle Day. It%26#39;s a small town beachy feeling literally 5 miles from downtown as the crow flies!

Do a search in the box above for ';hotels on the T';. Here you%26#39;ll see the lowest cost recommendations that will give you access via public transportation to the city. You%26#39;ll likely be able to meet the $95 or close and have a more recommended location.

I am not familiar with the ';Best Western Roadhouse'; so I cannot comment on that hotel. I am familiar with the Wyndham Hotel in Chelsea and the recommendation of staying in the town of Winthrop by a previous poster. Both the Chelsea location and the Winthrop location is not very convenient to the city but is doable. You must take a bus to Orient Heights blue line ';T'; stop if staying in Winthrop or a shuttle ride to Wellington orange line ';T'; stop if staying at the Wyndham Chelsea Hotel. If time is money then you will not be saving money, but is money is an issue and you would like to visit our city then these options are acceptable.

We would all love to stay at a nice convenient downtown Boston hotel, but with hotel rates being so high, the Wyndham could be a good alternative. The Wyndham hotel is not in the ideal tourist area, it is urban and in a very isolated location but for a budget traveler, it is not that bad. The staff at the hotel is very nice. There is a free shuttle, that will shuttle you to the ';T,'; or to the airport, basically they will shuttle you anywhere within a two mile radius. The rooms are nice and it is a relatively new hotel. Nice small indoor swimming pool but be cautious it is a little slippery around the pool.

Two good inexpensive BBQ restaurants nearby ';Floramo%26#39;s'; right next door and a better BBQ restaurant ';New Bridge Cafe,'; about a mile away. There is also free parking.

I have stayed at both the Wyndham (ask for an upgrade to the corner suites) and The Inn At Crystal Cove. Wyndham is a better hotel in general but lacks a nice location. Winthrop is more of a residential, village feel while Chelsea is urban.

The view, from the Crystal Cove, is the skyline of Boston, it cannot be beat! On a nice day, you can sit outside by the outside swimming pool and enjoy the boats in the harbor. You will hear airplanes over your head and see them land but the planes stop late at night.

The Wyndham Chelsea is isolated and in an urban area. There is no place to walk to except for the Grocery store a block away. Winthrop is walkable, you can walk to the restaurants, the beach, Deer Island

Harborwalk or walk to the corner to public transportation.

If you stay in Winthrop look for the festivals (as previously posted) ';Sandcastle Day,'; ';Winthrop-day-at-the-beach'; or the Fourth of July ';horribles parade'; and fireworks, eat at ';D%26#39;parma%26#39;s'; Italian Restaurant or breakfast at ';Hi-Tide.'; Go shopping and have a cup of coffee down the center of town at Moonstruck Cafe.

The Inn at Crystal Cove is more like a B%26amp;B without the hostess. There are no services, but there is a common area where you can prepare your own meals and the rooms are average rooms, some of the rooms you must share a bathroom, you will be lucky to find someone in the office. The Winthrop location is nicer but The Wyndham rooms and services are better. I hope this helps........
