Our family will be traveling to New haven, CT area for two weeks in July, My wife and I would like to take a weekend trip somewhere while we are there and thought boston sounded cool, what areas should I look for hotel rooms in, what would be the best way to travel into boston, My guess is driving parking would be icky. We love using public transportation when traveling, its part of the adventure.
any help would be awesome

Boston Advice
Hi, Boston is very accessible without a car. Prime area for seeing things and accessing the ';T'; - subway system is Copley Square and the also around Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market. A couple of questions - will you be driving up from New Haven %26amp; parking? If not, you can get an Amtrak train. Also - what is your budget and how many people?
Boston Advice
Hi stratboy,
A couple of questions. Will it be just you and the wife coming to Boston or the whole family? If it%26#39;s the whole family, how many kids and what ages? It helps us to know this so we can give you the best advice on where to stay and what to do.
Well we are looking to go to boston July 26-28, hotwire has a 3star hotel availble in the finacial/quincy area for $105, my guess is its the holiday Inn. For a trip like this I am just looking for a inexpensive clean room in a good location, we are just going to sleep there.
If we did chose to drive what is parking like in Boston
by the way, just me and the Wifey for this weekend trip.
thanks
FYI: Financial area (of downtown Boston) and Quincy are many miles apart.
I%26#39;m guessing he means ';Quincy Market';, not the city of Quincy.
yes quincy market
Hi,
A hotel in the Financial District/Quincy Market area would be fine for a tourist, especially at the bargain rate of $105/night.
If you can book the hotel at that rate, do it.
As for getting here, if you prefer not driving, Amtrak has a very plentiful schedule between here and New Haven. Unless you are in a tremendous hurry, I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth paying the large premium for the Acela express. Just book a regular Acela. It%26#39;s about a 3 hour ride to Boston.
3* in the Financial District sounds like Club Quarters. If it is, it caters mostly to business travelers. Expect a small room with a small bathroom. The hotel doesn%26#39;t offer a ton of service or ameneties, kind of bare bones if you will. It is the Financial District, so there%26#39;s not many options for dining around there at night.
The good about Club Quarters. It has clean rooms and a very nice location for Fanueil Hall, the Harbor and the North End areas. No more than a 10 minute walk to any of them. There%26#39;s plenty of places for food and drink around those areas. I believe there%26#39;s a pub nearby the hotel or at the hotel to get food and drinks if you become desperate. (which you won%26#39;t) There%26#39;s also a couple of subway stations nearby to visit any other part of the city your feet don%26#39;t want to take you.
So the bottom line is, for that cheap a price, if you can live with just a basic hotel experience close to some great areas, definitely go for it.
Parking on the weekend is actually pretty cheap. You can park at International Place for $7 a night. It is actually on the eastern edge of the Financial District.
