'Picket Fenced' Beaches

Hi

We are coming to Cape Cod in September. Can you please tell me where to find the quintessential %26#39;picket fenced%26#39; beach that you see on so may photos??

Many thanks

Many of the beaches have picket fences which are there to protect the dunes and stop you walking on them. The National Seashore beaches from Eastham up to Provincetown will be good for fences. Some of the Bay side beaches too.

Those broad pristine beaches are most likely the National Seashore beaches as senior65 pointed out. But the picket fences could be on Cape Cod Bay or even Nantucket Sound where homeowners are trying to prevent erosion. iIf you visit the big broad beaches of the National Seashore, you will find sand dunes that protect the mainland and marshes from erosion. Sometimes the dunes are not enough to prevent erosion and the land gets washed off-shore!

Thank you both very much.

Wonderful - thank you.

We call them snow fences. They keep the sand from drifting across the roads. The MBL beach in Woods Hole(a village in Falmouth) has a nice one with a spectacular view of Nobska Lighthouse in the background. A terrific photo opportunity! Also, Wood Neck beach in Falmouth is quite scenic.

Thanks everyone for all your help - we are spending a whole week on the Cape so we will have time to go to all these beautiful places.
