Hello all,
I%26#39;m thinking of buying a season%26#39;s pass to Six Flags, a place which oddly enough I%26#39;ve never been to. My children are 5 and 8 years old and I was wondering if there is enough there to keep them entertained for more than one or 2 visits in a summer. Also, do they do a good job at keeping it a ';family destination';? I%26#39;m a charter member of F.A.R.T (Fathers Against Radical Teenagers), so rubbing elbows with boisterous teenagers is not something I find enjoyable.
Six Flags
what?
Six Flags
I can give you a good summary of Six Flags. The park is very nice. It is set up in a New England type of theme with a cobblestone Main St. and nice areas to sit and enjoy the small waterfalls and what not. I have never noticed any boisterous, out of control teenagers while I%26#39;ve been there. There is plenty of park security if there is any problems. The park is set up for 3 age groups. The real little ones, the kids your age and the older kids. I%26#39;m not all that impressed with the amount of rides offered for the little ones. The park definitely has been set up to accomodate older kids. Many more big kid rides than small kid rides. They have 3 or 4 waterparks. One is just a general ';get wet'; area. One is a large wave pool area and then there%26#39;s the water slide park and a lazy river tube ride park. The park is CROWDED in the summer. Much more so on the weekends than weekdays. My last trip with my niece and her friend was this past summer on a Saturday. Never again! The traffic from Springfield to Agawam was a nightmare. The park is situated too far off the main interstate and requires driving down one lane roads. It took us about an hour and a half just to go the final 10 miles. It%26#39;s certainly a place to visit if you haven%26#39;t before, but it%26#39;s just too far out of the way with too many aggravations getting to the place. Not that you would have to worry about it with young ones, but the most popular rides require waiting in line forever, unless you buy the ';fast pass'; which has it%26#39;s own separate line. So, it%26#39;s a nice park, but the hassles associated with it may turn you off. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply will007. I will definitely avoid the park on weekends. I was looking at the satellite map and was wondering if it would be better to approach the park from Connecticut to avoid the bottleneck (s).
Do you mean approaching the park on Interstate 91 from the south instead of the north? If so, no it won%26#39;t matter. The problems begin from 91 to the park regardless of direction. If there is a way to get to the park without using 91 and the main route into the park, I%26#39;m not sure. I just go the way everyone else seems to go.
