I%26#39;m going to Boston next week, and have a question about men%26#39;s attire. I%26#39;m from California where we can go into any restaurant dressed pretty much however we want. In the hottest (not most pretentious) restaurants in L.A., most men, including men of means, wear jeans (not 501s, but cool jeans) with nice shirts or even hip t-shirts. I have a feeling Boston might not quite be like that unfortunately.
I went to Boston with my teenage son a couple years ago and jeans were fine everywhere, but then I didn%26#39;t go to really nice places with him. This time I%26#39;m going with my wife, so we%26#39;ll be going into better places.
So, I%26#39;d like to know what men can wear in fun, good restaurants. I%26#39;m not interested in going to stuffy, overly fancy restaurants, but more well-above average, but not stuffy restaurant-bars.
Thank you.
Question on Overall Attire Guidelines for Dinners
Generally be neat and clean. Jeans for men are acceptable at all but the fanciest restaurants. I%26#39;ve worn jeans -- neat, dark colored ones -- to expensive restaurants with no problem. Likewise, most shirts are acceptable but avoid white T shirts, sleeveless, etc. Except at very high end and some hotel restaurants, jackets are almost never required.
Some people think Boston as a sort of stuffy place but with a large college population, it%26#39;s pretty laid back. Just think what impression you%26#39;ll make and what you would like to see on other diners.

Thanks. Sounds like it%26#39;s pretty much the same as here them.
