Could I beg you for some more Fenway Park help?? :)
I have noticed quite a few topics on here that are similar to my question--but after hours of searching for a hotel online--I need to just directly ask for help!
We are...yet another young couple headed out to Fenway for a Boston game this summer. My BF is the big Boston fan, I am the big shopping fan (looking forward to Feneiul Hall in particular). This is our first actual trip together, my first planning attempt--and I don%26#39;t want to mess it up!
We are looking for a hotel from $150-250 somewhere within close walking distance at least to the T so we can get from Fenway to hotel, hotel to shopping, etc. My worry is the walk after the late game. Is it easier to stay by Fenway and walk or take the T to shopping the next day, or vice versa, or stay somewhere in the middle?
Also, I would really like the hotel to at least be decent, if not a little better than decent. We won%26#39;t be spending a whole lot of time at the hotel, but I would like our time there to be enjoyable, I would like it to be as nice as we can get in that price range.
So far, I am looking at the Langham or Club Quarters--but can%26#39;t seem to find the distance from the T...and both have mixed reviews.
Thank you in advance, any advice is greatly, greatly appreciated!
:)
More Fenway Park Hotel Help...Please?Firstly, rest assured that leaving the ballpark after the game is perfectly safe. The streets and surrounding bars will be filled with patrons and after-game enthusiasts. The crowds might feel intimidating but they%26#39;re not. I%26#39;ve gone alone to night games and walked to the T with no problems.
There are a number of hotels within a mile of Fenway, like Hotel Commonwealth (right in Kenmore Square) to the Holiday Inn Brookline (1200 Beacon Street) or the Midtown Hotel (220 Huntington Ave). The last two would surely be in your price range. Staying in the Back Bay might be a good compromise; can walk from Fenway in about 15 minutes, near to Newbury Street boutique shopping and a 15 minute T ride to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. The Charlesmark on Boylston Street or Jury%26#39;s come to mind. Even the Lenox works, too.
The Langham and Club Quarters are both downtown in the Financial District. Still doable but they put you nearer to Faneuil Hall than Fenway. The Club Quarters is about 1/2 block from the State Street T station on Devonshire. There%26#39;s a decent pub next door and easy walking to downtown. The only issue I have known people to kvetch about is that the rooms are a little on the small side and it%26#39;s rather no-frills in the amenities department. Otherwise it%26#39;s safe and clean.
The Langham is located on Franklin Street at Post Office Square. A lovely spot on a summer day but it might feel a bit lonely and isolated in the evenings. There are some pubs nearby on Broad Street and it%26#39;s a 10 minute walk to Faneuil Hall and about the same to downtown. Walking from either is safe. The closest T stop is like the one mentioned above but it%26#39;s probably a 10 minute walk there, too.
So there you have it. I hope these suggestions help.
More Fenway Park Hotel Help...Please?Faneuil Hall will definitely be fun for dining and drinks outdoors, but the shopping is a bit more limited than you might think. You%26#39;ll find a lot more shopping on Boylston and Newbury Streets instead.
Think about finding a hotel in the Back Bay area, and try Priceline or Hotwire for bargains. If they say 4-star in the Back Bay, and it%26#39;s in your price range, grab it. It won%26#39;t matter that you don%26#39;t know which hotel it is, it will be near shopping and Fenway, you can even walk to Faneuil Hall from there.
I would urge you to avoid the Holiday Inn in Brookline, it is very rundown and in desperate need of renovation. Worse yet, they have a huge allotment of interior rooms at the bottom of their rate scale that have no windows, and if you get one, it will feel like you%26#39;ve been locked in a dank, musty dungeon prison cell. Trust me, I%26#39;ve experienced those rooms, and they are among the worst rooms in any hotel I%26#39;ve ever had, anywhere, anytime.
BeansandCod rather aptly described the hotel situation. Let me just add that you could stay anywhere in the Copley Square area and have an easy walk back from Fenway and be close to the main shopping area. There are lots of hotels in the area and you could walk to Quincy Market from there in about half an hour, assuming you don%26#39;t stop at interesting sites along the way, or take the T. You%26#39;ll probably be able to see some availability in the higher end of your price range.

Hello,
Definitely no reason to worry or stress yourself. Since your looking to shop till you drop and your boyfriend just wants to see the Sox, I also suggest staying in the Back Bay. The only minor problem becomes your budget. To stay somewhere real nice, you will be pushing the $250 max you have for your hotel. Like others have stated, definitely try using priceline, hotwire or even hotels.com. I was on hotels.com and priceline recently and kept seeing the Marriott Copley Place show up for $249. This hotel will be ideal for both of you. The Back Bay of Boston is a very beautiful, lively and happening neighborhood, especially in the summertime. Copley Place is made up of the Marriott and Westin hotels, plus an indoor shopping mall between them. There is a glass pedestrian bridge that connects Copley Place to the Prudential Center with another indoor mall there. After your done at those places, Newbury Street is a very short walk away. After you finish all those places, I%26#39;ll bet your shopping desire will be over. If you still need more, hop on the T and head to Fanueil Hall Marketplace, Downtown Crossing and Harvard Square. I%26#39;m not even sure how long you two plan to stay. If it%26#39;s just a weekend, I would spend the extra for a place like the Marriott Copley Place, Lenox, or Jurys. If your staying longer and need a more budget conscious place, look into the Charlesmark for the Back Bay, and Club Quarters, Bulfinch, Harborside Inn and the Langham. Although the last four are on the other side of the city, they%26#39;re really only 3 miles away. You can still walk them to Back Bay/Fenway areas or simply hop on the T. I certainly wouldn%26#39;t call them inconvienent at all. There is plenty going on around these places too. Fanueil Hall, Harbor, North End, Downtown, Harvard Square and Beacon Hill are all close by and very different and fun neighborhoods to discover. So do your searches and see what you can come up with. Come back and let us know where you will be staying and if we can help you out with anything else. Good Luck!
What is your check in date and check out date?
Thank you everyone! This opens up a whole new area of hotels to check out. Back Bay sounds more like where we should be.
We will only be there for the weekend, July 12 and 13. :)
Thanks again!
So your only spending one night or two?
Just one night...
Again--thank you! It was so nice to talk to actual people about this. I booked Jurys Boston for 270- something for one night. Pushed my budget, but it looked like a great location and nice hotel. I am so excited!
Good choice! You will like the hotel and the area. Have a good time.
