Hi,
We have decided on a last minute trip to Boston this weekend. We are planning to visit both the Aquarium and the Children%26#39;s Museum.
We usually visit Boston for day-trips from Vermont, but wanted to spend a little more time in the city with our 6-year old.
Is there a family-friendly hotel ';in the middle'; of these two attractions? So, we could leave our car in the hotel%26#39;s parking area and walk each day, rather than try to find parking.
Thanks,
Michele
Hotel/Parking HelpHi,
There are plenty of hotels in the downtown Boston area. It%26#39;s not really necessary to be in the middle of those two areas.
However, the Marriott Long Wharf is next door to the Aquarium, so it would probably make it very convenient for visiting. It%26#39;s also not far from the Children%26#39;s museum.
You might be shocked at the prices for the room and for overnight parking there, but you didn%26#39;t specify a budget so maybe it%26#39;s not an issue for one night.
Hotel/Parking HelpHaving the car is going to be the biggest issue in that you%26#39;ll be paying through the nose to park it. It%26#39;s only the one night but still....
The Long Wharf Marriott might have a weekend deal and they%26#39;re right next door to the Aquarium. I%26#39;d consider them more family-friendly than the Boston Harbor Hotel.
Check out the MidTown Hotel on Huntington Ave. They have parking on premises and if they charge it%26#39;s pretty nomimal. I think it%26#39;s the only property that%26#39;s more of a motor inn than a hotel within city limits. The closest T stop is Prudential on the E Green Line. Take it to Government Center and stroll through Faneuil Hall on the way or change for the Blue Line and get off at the Aquarium Stop.
It is a holiday weekend so there might be minimum stay issues, too.
Yes, I wouldn%26#39;t worry about trying to find a hotel near those attractions. Just find one that meets your needs and take the subway if need be.
there are a few parking lots between South Station and the commercial areas down Summer St that are $10 a day. We also found a garage at Post Office Square that was $9/day [Sat and Sundays only] the Boston Common Garage is $11/day [Sat and Sunday]. We often find places to park right on the street also. With colleges mostly closed down everything will be easier. Parking in a garage and getting around by cab can also be so convenient, esp at night.
where to stay ? go to hotwire.com or priceline and see what is being offered . There are lots of choices in every price bracket.
enjoy !
