Just spent the past few days reading up on Hyannis and I was convinced this was the place for us - a couple in our mid-20s on a budget (Read: lodging about $130 a night, ideally $100.)
I made reservations at the Seacoast Inn in Hyannis- right in the middle of itt all. But on a whim I began checking out some cottage rentals on few rental web sites and found a couple cottages in Dennis Port that are even more economical for us.
How does Dennis Port compare to Hyannis? Is there a Main Street? Restaurants and bars in walking distance? Nice beaches in walking or short ride? or is it more residential and quiet?
We%26#39;re driving in so we have the car... Any suggestions would help!

Like yellowbird told you in your other post, Dennisport is more of a quintessential ';Cape Cod'; town compared to Hyannis. It%26#39;s smaller, quieter and more family oriented. It does have a few streets, one being Main St, with shops, a few restaurants, a few pizza places, a couple of liquor stores and one nightclub called Sundancer%26#39;s. I don%26#39;t believe it has any other bars besides that unless you consider the restaurants as bars. It will provide you with more of a quiet, relaxing Cape Cod experience than Hyannis will, but doesn%26#39;t come close to the shopping, restaurants and nightlife that Hyannis provides.

We, couple late 20%26#39;s, prefer Dennisport over Hyannis. We used to stay in Hyannis, but it%26#39;s very commercialized. Don%26#39;t get me wrong we love to visit Hyannis while staying in DP... but we rent a small cottage in DP for about $600 wk and love it!!!
We can walk to some restaurants/places. Others are a 3-5 min drive away. We like grabbing a drink in DP at Sundancers,Sailing Cow- near beach and Sandollar. The beaches are great, one within walking dist. from the cottage.
If you do choose DP, and decide not to go the cottage route and you just need a clean room.... The Barnacle Hotel- see my review in West Dennis is right across the street from an Irish pub- O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s, Sundancers and Compass Rose Summer Shanty. Let me know if you need any more info.
