Anyone ever stayed at the Colony in Wellfleet? Any advice? We%26#39;ve booked a week in July but are having trouble finding much about it. Thanks!

The Colony in Wellfleet
No, it%26#39;s actually called The Colony of Wellfleet. www.thecolonyofwellfleet.com
It was written up in the Boston Globe and Yankee Magazine (an Editor%26#39;s Pick). But I can%26#39;t find anything about it on TripAdvisor, which is really unusual.
The website looks nice - I%26#39;m just looking for some inside advice. Thanks.
The Colony is a secluded small area in Wellfleet, that consists of about 12 nicely sized cottages, in the modernist style of architects in the 50%26#39;s. They are on lovely grounds, beautifully kept, and in the 60%26#39;s a favorite haunt of Montgomrty Clift as well as other Hollywood elite of the day, when they were appearing in Cape theatres. On Chequessett Neck Rd. in Wellf;eet, access to the bay is just down the road, for swimming and boating. You are in walking distance of the Chequessett Yacht and Tennis Club, both faciilities available to the public, and a walk into the village- for the art gallery open houses each Saturday night in the summer, complete with wine and cheese. I think you will be most happy there, it is a perfect spot.
Not only have some of our guests stayed there, but it was the site of my 1st summer job, cleaning the cottages! Still walk past it each morning. Any other questions, don%26#39;t hesitate to shout out!
Thanks so much. Is the beach within walking distance? We have two small children and are hoping to walk to the beach with them.
Yes, you can walk to the beach at Powers Landing- just q 3 minute walk down the hill. Bayside is tidal- and the children will enjoy combing low tide for sea critters and shells as well as swimming when the tide is on its way in!
Just be sure and get them ';beach shoes'; for low tide, so the shells don%26#39;t cut their feet(the tide goies waaay out). The little shop on Holbrook Ave. has them for all ages.
Be sure and get a beach sticker for the week, as they will also enjoy the ponds. That will also let you go to the ocean side beaches too- Enjoy your stay!
Thanks, ShantyCapeCod. Can you tell me how to get a beach sticker for the week?
PearlieGirl, You can find out everything you need to know on the town of Wellfleet%26#39;s Chamber of Commerce site:
www.wellfleetchamber.com
Use the ';out and about%26#39; pull-down menu to get to beaches. You will love the outer cape! Have a great time making memories!
PearlieGirl,
Did you stay here and if yes, how was it?
We are also travelling with children and were wondering about it.
Thanks!

Hi Papacris. We haven%26#39;t stayed yet - we are going in July, but I will put up a posting after our stay and let you know.
Pearlie Girl,
Sorry, just realized you had asked another question!
Your host at the Colony will give you an application for a beach sticker, and you will take your car registration and the fee to the pier, you will see the beach sticker shack.
Yellowbyrd%26#39;s advice to go to the Chamber website is a good one- you can request the 2008 Wellfleet booklet, and everything will be in there for you.
