Hi all,
I%26#39;m going to be visiting Boston for a couple of weeks at some point this summer. I%26#39;m a visiting research student, and I%26#39;ll be working at MIT during this period... unfortunately as I%26#39;m only over for such a short period of time I%26#39;m not eligible for Student housing. Could anyone recommend any reasonably priced accomodation near the MIT, that I could rent/book for a couple of weeks? To be honest, I%26#39;d probably prefer somesort of shared/student accomodation as I don%26#39;t know anyone over there and I%26#39;d be nice to have some company... but a guesthouse or something similar would also be OK! I have funding for this trip, so price isn%26#39;t too important, but nothing too extravagant please... as I%26#39;ll have to convince my sponsors to pay for it!
...apologies if this is the wrong place for this type of request, if anyone can point me in the right direction of a more suitable website then please do!
Also, once I%26#39;m finished work, I plan stick around in Boston for a few extra days of Holiday. Again, as I%26#39;m going to be by myself, I%26#39;d probably prefer a hostel, where I could meet other young travelers and have a bit of a laugh! Can anyone recommend any sociable hostels near the centre of town?
thanks in advance!
Boston accomodation for a couple of weeks
Hi!
I suggest a quick email over to the MIT International Students Office. http://web.mit.edu/iso
Natasha Murphy is the visiting students coordinator. She may be able to put you in touch with some resources for off-campus housing. Just curious: is this a short visit in anticipation of your full enrollment as of September?
I%26#39;m sure you would have had some correspondence from this office, as all arrangements for visiting students are cleared through here. If you%26#39;ve not been contacted by someone at ISO or the department you%26#39;re going to be working in regarding your arrival I suggest you do so.
Here%26#39;s some other resources that might be of help:

Or, if you%26#39;re classified as an International/Visiting Scholar, this is the office you should communicate with: http://web.mit.edu/scholars/

If MIT doesn%26#39;t help you try craigslist.com for Boston.
