The wife and I are planning a trip to Boston in late September. I%26#39;ve been researching the GoBoston card and wanted to get any feedback on the different excursions that are offered (gobostoncard.com/freeadmissions.html#ex).
Specifically, we%26#39;re looking at:
* Wrentham Village Premium Outlets shopping excursion
* Fall Foliage Day Tour
* New England Seacoast Day Tour
Wondering whether anyone has done these tours and what your thoughts were.
A bit about us to put it in context, we%26#39;re late 20%26#39;s, both very interested in photography, especially older architecture and landscape/scenery.
At this point the shopping excursion is pretty much definite, and of the two day tours we%26#39;re leaning toward the Sea Coast one.
Advice on GoBoston excursions
The Seacoast tour sounds perfect for you. Plenty of opportunities to take great pictures at Hampton Beach, Nubble Lighthouse and Kennebunkport. That is the one you should take. The weather late September is still enjoyable for such a trip.
Fall Foliage Tour doesn%26#39;t get great reviews. I would avoid that one, especially since late Septemember doesn%26#39;t yet have great foliage around southern New England.
Wrentham Village. Hide the money and credit cards! It%26#39;s basically a great place to find good deals on clothing and accessories. Women love the place. Men cringe when the words are spoken. Wear your most comfortable footwear. 5 hours is a long time to be on your feet.
Great picture taking can be found all over Boston. I am beginning to think that Boston is fast becoming the Tokyo of the west for Japanese tourists. They are everywhere and their cameras are always snapping away.
A must is to head to Trinity Church in the Back Bay. Beautiful old church, and everyone has to get pictures of it reflecting off the glass Hancock Tower. The perfect old meets new picture. Very nice! There%26#39;s also plenty of other old, beautiful churches all around that vicinity which are gorgeous. A stroll down the nearby Commonwealth Ave is excellent for picture taking. Still in the BackBay is the Christian Science Park. Lots of photographers there to take pictures of the Mother Church and it%26#39;s beautiful reflecting pool.
The Boston Public Garden is another photographers dream. Don%26#39;t miss it.
Great photo opps can also be found in the Beacon Hill, North End, South End and all around Fanueil Hall Marketplace. The Esplanade along the Charles River is great for taking pictures. Harvard is another place you must get to as well.
Great Boston skyline shots can be taken from the top of the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown.
You are coming to quite the area for photography, so enjoy yourselves and fire away!
