We are huge baseball fans but never get to see a game as we live in the UK. In Boston 24 and 25 June when the Red Sox are at home to the Arizona Diamondbacks but the web site suggests its a sell out. Are we likely to be able to buy 2 tickets to see a game either night when we get to Boston?
Red Sox tickets to buy on the dayThe entire Red Sox season is considered sold out. This doesn%26#39;t mean you can%26#39;t get tickets. It just means that your chances of getting them at face value are pretty slim. You can wait until the day of the game and go to the park and seek out tickets. The Red Sox usually release some tickets the day of the game. There are also ticket scalpers around the park as well. The third option and an option most people use is the ticket agencies. You will pay dearly through these companies, but your tickets are guaranteed, whereas a scalper might sell you bogus tickets. The two most popular websites are www.stubhub.com or www.acetickets.com
Red Sox tickets to buy on the dayThanks for that Will. We will try our luck on the day at the stadium. Should we get there early in the day to stand a chance?
The club releases a small amount of tickets to be sold on the day of the game. No one knows an exact number. ';Small'; is up to the indidviduals%26#39; own interpretation. That being said the game day tickets are sold at Gate E at Fenway. They won%26#39;t allow a line to start until 5 hours before game time, and there will be a line when you get there.
Another alternative is to head to the park and visit one of the many bars and watch the game there. It%26#39;s not like being in the park, but it%26#39;s still a festive atmosphere for a fraction of the price.
Just looking on Stub Hub, I notice the ticket prices for Arizona are VERY reasonable compared to other teams. This tells me the demand is not that high. As far as going to the park for tickets, I believe the Red Sox will release any unsold tickets for the game two or three hours before game time. I%26#39;ll let someone else answer exactly when they release tickets since I%26#39;m not 100% certain. There is usually a line leading to the ticket window which you stand in. For the prices I%26#39;m seeing right now, I would consider buying them now so you%26#39;re guaranteed tickets, and you can have them shipped to your hotel for pick up.
oops. forgot to mention that they start selling the tix two hours before game time(thanks will). also, will%26#39;s stubhub suggestion is great--buy them now so you can relax on game day.
Watching the game around the park is pretty cool.
Stop by the park the day before if possible. They will give you all the tips on the way they release the tickets. Ask about the ones which are sold but require the buyer to enter the park on purchase.
