Lobster

Just a heads up to all who are thinking of having that first lobster of the summer. I was just reading through one of the Cape Cod onliners and they gave a warning that lobster prices are expected to jump from $7-9 per pound to $16-18 due to an expected shortage. Keep in mind that these prices are for purchases at fish markets and supermarkets. I can only imagine how much the retaurants will be charging. I never understood how they could tell a shortage was coming when the summer has yet to arrive, but there must be some science to it. I doubt I%26#39;ll be in any hurry for a lobster at those prices.

Lobster

Yes, same thing in NH %26amp; Maine where they have the best lobsters in the country. We%26#39;re seeing prices sky rocket like you wouldn%26#39;t believe. The other day lobster meat at Brown%26#39;s (in Seabrook, NH) was $50 a pound, which is outrageous. At Christmas time it was $30 a pound, so that goes to show you how high it is and there%26#39;s no end in sight according to our fisherman friend, there will be less %26amp; less ';lobster rolls'; for quite a lot of us!

Lobster

I better get to Kelley%26#39;s before the jump. Thanks for the tip!!!

Lobstermen fish all year not just in the summer. My brother in law owns a lobster boat and landings are way down. Hopefully things will turn around for the marine industry.

I have no problem with the price increase. I think the boat owners and crew work hard.

';I have no problem with the price increase. I think the boat owners and crew work hard.';

yes, and the lobsters give it their all!

I heard they were kind of crabby about it........

It%26#39;s to bad that the lobstermen aren%26#39;t getting the prices that they are charging retail. They usually average between 4.00 to 6.00 a pound. Oh well, what isn%26#39;t going sky high these days? Just look at the price of beef.

Hey Msar: Does your brother in law sell right off the boat to people?

And we thought the price spiked, last year. But that would mean that it came back down. Not a chance.

Otherwise, ';feeling the pinch...';

Well that just blows my mind! It sounds a little bit like gas prices. What will they think of next??
