Hey Ya%26#39;ll, me again! We%26#39;ll be arriving in Boston two weeks from tomorrow. YAY!! With the closing of school and a son graduating, I%26#39;m a little ';coo-coo'; but still really anticipating this LONG awaited trip. :D My husband and I have tickets to the Sox%26#39;s game on the 6th. Start time is 7:05 pm. Should I plan on wearing jeans and a sweatshirt? I hate being cold and I figure Boston evenings might be a little ';breezer'; then Texas evenings. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide. I%26#39;ve said it more than once, but Bostonians rock!!
Dressing for Fenway
Hi teach,
A warm shirt, good quality sweatshirt and even a jacket may be required. It of course depends on the weather, but it has been a bit cooler than normal still. I%26#39;m watching the game right now and I see a lot of people dressed rather warmly. It should be warmer for your visit, but you are from Texas. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have a better idea what you%26#39;ll need once your here, but it%26#39;s always better to be able to take a layer off than not have that layer to put on if you get cold.
Dressing for Fenway
You never really know ... unless it%26#39;s really HOT during the day, Jeans will be fine. Wear a T-shirt under the sweatshirt in case you want to take it off.
Fenway is old, seats are small ... even average sized people have little knee room or shoulder space. Lots of body heat and depending on where you are sitting, there may or may not be a breeze.
Having a sweatshirt on hand will definitely help. It does get cooler at night and if you%26#39;re from Texas, you%26#39;ll have a different sense of what%26#39;s ';cold.'; My relatives from down south shiver at 60 degrees. If you%26#39;re super sensitive to the cold, maybe a light fleece, something you can wrap around your waist if you don%26#39;t need it.
Thanks everyone for weighing in on my question. Since I love sweatshirts I think I%26#39;ll plan on buying a Sox%26#39;s sweatshirt in one of the souvineer shops @ Fenway. If I%26#39;m cold, (which is highly likely knowing me), I can always put it over whatever else I%26#39;m wearing. Thanks again!!!!
You can grab your sweatshirt at The Red Sox Store on Yawkey Way before the game. They%26#39;re a little expensive but well made. Don%26#39;t get the pink one! :)
Where are your seats?
In terms of warmth/comfort, it will matter.
I scored a ';Monster'; seat a couple year ago on top of the left field wall. It was an incredible view, but the temp was 55 degrees in late June with a stiff wind at my back, and I absolutely froze to death. I knew I was in trouble when I walked up the stairs and saw people (obviously veterans) who were wearing full-blow ';George Costanza/Michelin Man'; winter parkas and gloves, while I had my flimsy EMS windbreaker.
I was there tonight and it started to rain late in the game. I had a jeans, turtle neck, heavy sweater and hat. I was still cold. Today was a nice day too. Keep jumping up and down and yelling. I find this helps keep me warm. It is all worth it.
Thanks for the shopping tip Will. I always like saving a couple of bucks. (It will give me an excuse to buy something else later!) :D
Signofthetimes, How my husband would LOVE to have seats in the Green Monster section. However; our tickets are for section 32, row 14, seats 25 %26amp; 26.
Eileengs, Hopefully it won%26#39;t be THAT cold while we are there. I%26#39;m planning to pack as conservatively as possible, and now it%26#39;s essential since I heard today that American Airlines is going to charge $15.00 for your first checked back and $25.00 for your second. YIKES! I don%26#39;t mind jumping up and down though!! :) Who is your favorite Sox player??
You really have to wait until the day of the game to decide what to wear. Recently we%26#39;ve had nights in the 40%26#39;s. Monday is forecast to be in the 80%26#39;s.
Hi Teacher,
Fans at Fenway really love it when people come dressed in pinstripes and Yankees Sweatshirts. If you can pick up an A-Rod jersey, or a Johnny Damon jersey (he%26#39;s very popular here), you will be most welcomed :)
