Sunday June 2 - Live Blues?
Excellent - thanks much!
I should also fix the date - Sunday is June 1! I%26#39;m getting ahead of myself.
So from this list on the 1st:
Open blues jams at Johnny D%26#39;s, Chicken Bone Saloon, Stone%26#39;s Public House, Cantab Lounge,Cove Lounge, Onset Bay Blues Cafe, Golden Memories, Hajjar%26#39;s, Waterstreet Cafe, Big Kahuna Cafe.
* Joe Mack Band - Paddy O%26#39;s Boston, MA
* Parker Wheeler%26#39;s Blues Party w/Jimmy Scoppa, Steve Burke, Wolf Ginandes, Sal Baglio, Steve Bankuti and Amadee Castenell - Grog Newburyport, MA
any of these better or worse than any others? Close to down town - or in a neighborhood that is not so safe?
Johnny D%26#39;s is in Davis Square, Somerville, (a college neighborhood written up several times as a ';best place to live'; for young professionals) is a good place to experience the diversity of the neighborhood and get some decent pub food. There are a bunch of interesting restaurants and other bars in the square.
The Cantab has been a local fixture in Central Square, Cambridge for ages. Both are accessible by the Red line subway.
Paddy O%26#39;s is an Irish bar (could you tell?) near Fanueil Hall, downtown.
The Cove is a hangout in Revere, which is reached by the Blue line subway.
Hiajar%26#39;s is a family restaurant with entertainment, 15 minutes....drive... in Weymouth. Don%26#39;t know about public transport.
Some of them are not in town and would involve using the commuter rail or driving : Newburyport(45 min by commuter rail, although the Grog is close to the station), Chicken Bone Saloon is in Framingham (30 minutes min), Stone%26#39;s Public House (Ashland), Onset Bay Blues Cafe (Onset, Cape Cod), Waterstreet Cafe (Fall River), Big Kahuna Cafe (Maine) -- so strike those.
Great info. Thank you!
