driving to boston - where to stay??

We are driving to Boston in late July. I%26#39;d like some suggestions as to where we can stay and avoid the downtown traffic. Looking for an area that is close to transportation with decent hotels.

Thanks!

One place i would suggest is the Qunicy Marriott they have shuttle service that will take you to the subway stop plus you can park at the hotel free, where as if you stay downtown you would have to park in lots where the price is extremely high.

I like the Quincy Marriott as well. It%26#39;s about 8-9 miles south of the city. It%26#39;s still nearby I-93 and route 3, so there will still be traffic to deal with at rush hours. The T station is less than 1 mile from the hotel. Like Oldies said, they do offer free shuttle service during the day. If you plan on coming back later at night, you%26#39;ll have to resort to a taxi. It%26#39;s about $10 with tip. The hotel will call you one. The hotel sits on a big hill and the walk from the T station uphill is brutal, so trust me and spend the $10 for a taxi. The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are nice and the hotel also has a couple of restaurants and a lounge. So, it%26#39;s one to consider.

There are also a couple of nice B%26amp;B%26#39;s in Brookline which sits just west of Boston and is close to the T. The Samuel Sewall Inn and it%26#39;s sister property, I forget it%26#39;s name, are two good choices.

Further west but still on the subway line is Newton. Very nice town and very safe as well. There%26#39;s a Marriott Newton there with free shuttle servive to the T stop.

Since you are coming in from the north, it would be kind of silly to drive 9 miles south beyond Boston to stay on the other side. The Hyatt Place Hotel in Medford is right on your way and they provide a shuttle to the subway station. It%26#39;s going to save you at least a half hour each way.
