Two nights in Cape Cod

Hi,

Just looking for some advice....I will be travelling to Boston this Summer, It will only be a quick stop this time unfortunately, We were planning (two girls mid 20s) on spending two nights in Boston and then renting a car for two days and travelling to Cape Cod, Just looking for some advice on where we should stay or what we should see around Cape Cod, We are interested in just chilling out and getting a feel for the place- few sights, boat trip etc along with having a few drinks-

any advice would be greatly appreciated....also in terms of accomodation, we are not really pushed- staying in a hostel in Boston as would prefer to spend our money on nice meals out, couple of drinks and experiencing the place rather than an expensive hotel.

Two nights in Cape Cod

Finding lodging for two nights Anywhere on the Cape in season is going to be difficult as there is usually a 3 night minimum. The Cape is Very expensive in the summer...few deals around at all.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get plenty of advice from the reg. posters. Others may know of more flexible lodging options.

You might consider just visiting the Cape for the day (not the same, I know) by taking the ferry from Boston to Provincetown.

You can explore the main st. of Ptown (Commercial St.)on foot, take a whale watch and have dinner and drinks and just watch the world go by before heading back to Boston.

Two nights in Cape Cod

If you%26#39;re interested in hostels, there are a few on the Cape that might fit the bill for you:

Hi Sarah,

This is a tough one considering you only have two nights on the Cape. There%26#39;s 4 main areas of Cape Cod plus two islands. Upper Cape has the towns of Falmouth and Sandwich, amongst others. Falmouth is great for nightlife and overall things to do for a couple of people your age. It%26#39;s also where you can take the ferry over to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. The downside of Falmouth is that it%26#39;s a big town with alot of commercialization, so many areas of it don%26#39;t have that ';quintessential'; Cape Cod town feel. Sandwich does have that feel but it lacks for nightlife.

Mid Cape includes towns like Hyannis and Dennis. Once again, Hyannis is very similar to Falmouth while Dennis is very similar to Sandwich.

Lower Cape towns like Chatham and Brewster are very nice towns. Chatham has enough to keep you both happy, but your budget may get in the way.

Outer Cape with towns like Provincetown and Wellfleet are located along the National Seashore. Very beautiful towns. P-town is very popular with gay people in the summer. Lots to do in Ptown, but less for nightlife in the other places. Once again, because these towns are ';quintessential'; Cape towns, the lodging is more expensive and difficult to come by.

The islands of Nantucket and Martha%26#39;s Vineyard are both nice places to visit. Martha%26#39;s Vineyard is more relaxed than Nantucket as far as budget and things to do, while Nantucket is downright charming, but expensive.

So, there%26#39;s a trade-off to everything. Considering your only staying a couple of nights on a budget,, I would recommend staying in Hyannis for the hustle and bustle at night and take a daytrip to Chatham and all the way up the National Seashore to Provincetown for the sightseeing.

Or stay in Falmouth and do your daytrip over to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard.

I%26#39;m sorry I can%26#39;t give you better ideas, but most people spend a week when visiting the Cape. This gives them the time to leisurely enjoy the different areas of Cape Cod. That said, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy yourselves no matter where you stay and what you do.

Wow, thanks so much for such informative replies! have been researching accommodation all evening and have seen that we will be spending a good bit on it but thats ok too, have decided on Hyannis for the second night and still trying to decide where to stay the first night, was thinking somewhere up the cape- provincetown or somewhere like that,

Thanks again for your replies

Sarah

Hi Sarah: Were you able to secure lodging for just ONE night in Hyannis? If so, could you let us know where? There are lots of people who come to the forum looking for one night accomodations in the summer and have rather a hard time!

Yea I got it through Americas Best Value Inns %26amp; Suites. It cost 97 dollars for a twin room for one night, dont know what it is like but will just be somewhere to sleep in, was offered it through hotels.com and through their own website.

Hope this helps,

Sarah

Hyannis Inn is another one which does single nights-actually come to think of it any of the places i looked up offered one night

Thanks, Sarah! This is Really good information! I%26#39;ll try to start another thread with these hotels listed. Maybe others can add to the list. Again, Thanks (and that rate is unbelievable! did you check on TA for hotel reviews?)

Just a last question: Which month did you book the room for? I%26#39;m just wondering if you booked before July 4th. Thanks again.
