Public Transport from Boston Airport to Peabody Terrance

Hello, Does anyone know the cheapest way to get to Peabody Terrance (Cambridge,MA) from Boston airport??

I will be waiting for your comments...

Thank you!

If you are coming with luggage, I recommend you take a taxi. Will probably run about $35. Peabody Terrace is right on the Charles River between the Harvard and Central Square Red Line Subway stops, but it%26#39;s a long way to walk when you%26#39;re lugging suitcases.

Yes, as Alan said, your kind of stuck without using a taxi. You would have to take the blue line T from the airport to Government Center station, then transfer to a green line train to Park Street station, then finally get on a red line train at Park Street and take that to either Central or Harvard stop. All of that still only costs $2 but it%26#39;s a hassle with luggage. Then you would still have a 15-20 minute walk from either station since no buses service that area around Peabody Terrace. I would take the taxi from the airport to Peabody Terrace.

THe cheapest is to take the T as described (not a pleasure with luggage because of stairs and changes of line), but then I would suggest a taxi from Harvard Square (where there are plenty waiting) for a few pennies extra.

Thank you all!! Tough I won%26#39;t have lots of lugagge it seems to be quit difficult..I guess I could do as you say, maybe taking the T from Boston Airport to Harvard Square and then taking a taxi from there, would this be more reasonable?

Do you know if I can buy T tickets from the airport (I mean those tickets that last for 1 week..)

Thanks!!!

After arriving at Logan and getting your luggage, there will be a free shuttle bus that comes by outside the terminal. Hop on that and when you reach Airport station, go inside the station and you will see about 6 vending machines. You can buy your 7 day Week Link pass there. It will be a single paper ticket that you will use everytime you need to use public transport, so don%26#39;t lose it.

Thank you all!

Taking the T from the airport really isn%26#39;t that big of a hassle unless you have multiple suitcases. I%26#39;ve noticed here that people tend to make changing trains out to be some major ordeal when it%26#39;s just a matter of walking down a corridor and/or going up or down a flight of stairs.

Changing trains, in addition to adding complexity and time to your travel, is a royal pain when you%26#39;ve got luggage. Going up and down the stairs (or escalators when available) won%26#39;t be on your trip highlights.

We just have different travelling sensibilities. I generally take whatever public transit is available when travelling to and from the airport, either home or abroad as a cost-saving measure. No, it%26#39;s not the ';highlight of the trip'; but walking up a flight of stairs with a suitcase is hardly some arduous task that I block from my memory, either.

And to keep on the topic, the OP did ask for the cheapest means of transportation.

Ahhh, my old ';home'; ...

With all great respect, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ve heard the optimum, yet. Your best is to take the Grey Van or one of the other share ride shuttle vans from the airport. By share ride, I mean they take up to seven people to their destinations in Boston and the suburbs. You might be the only one. Grey Van, which I have no connection to, except to use them all the time, takes people to all the cities as far out as Newton and Belmont (more than you want to know). It will cost $18.

The ';T'; Red Line Central Square and Harvard stations are both a looong walk to Peabody Terrace. At other times, you%26#39;ll take the ';T'; all around all the time because the locus of your activity will be around Harvard. But when you are first arriving, the shared ride vans are the best balance between cost and inconvenience. (I meant to say it that way.)
