Advice on finding hotels on Hotwire

Hey,

I%26#39;m trying to book a room from Thursday June 26 to Saturday June 28 inclusive. If I put these dates in Hotwire the results aren%26#39;t very promising. For example, A 4 star in Cambridge goes for $209 per night.

However, when I restrict the dates to Friday and Saturday only, the same 4 star in Cambridge now goes for $119 a night. I can also get a 3 star in Quincy-Financial district for $114, but no such option if I include Thursday.

Does anyone know why this may be? Does anyone think its a good idea to use hotwire for the Friday and Saturday and contact the hotel directly to negociate a deal for Thursday on the phone? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Why is the rate more on Thursday? Simple, hotels in Boston for that day are relatively full, likely due to some sort of business convention. Weekends tend to be less busy in many cities, thus lower weekend rates.

You certainly can try to get a better rate for Thursday by talking directly to the hotel, but that%26#39;s no guarantee you%26#39;ll be successful. They don%26#39;t have much incentive to lower their rates if demand for that particular night is high.

The hotel you intend to book must be catered to Business Travel. That is why the rates are lower for Friday and Saturday.

Hi,

Like the previous posters mentioned, staying in a major city during the week is usually more expensive than weekends. There%26#39;s lots of business and conventioneers in major cities during the weekdays. That said, I typed in your dates on hotwire and saw the Intercontinental being offered at $199 and the Westin Copley Place at $169. I would be all over either one!
